PANDAS January 2026 Club Updates

PANDAS January 2026 Club Updates

Dear PANDAS Members,

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and are looking forward to 2026. Let’s hope for some warmer weather and some good flying days.

As we start the new year we have 150 members who have renewed their PANDAS membership for 2026. If you want to renew your membership, details are on the club website (link below):

https://pandas.bmfa.club/pandas-2026-membership-renewals

Thank you to everyone for their continued support for the club. If you have not collected your 2026 membership card they are in a folder in the cabin (in the black briefcase).

Please remember you need to renew your own BMFA membership and CAA Operator number as they become due. You must be a BMFA member to fly at the club and this also provides important 3rd party insurance cover.

CAA Article 16 Authorisation

The latest BMFA / CAA Article 16 Authorisation (the rules we fly under) comes into force on 1st January 2026 0link nelow).

BMFA / CAA Article 16 Authorisation 1/1/2026

Members need to be familiar with what it says. It is similar to if you drive a car, you need to be familiar with the rules of the road.

Little has changed for us. You have to pass one of the online knowledge tests (CAA DMARES or BMFA RCC) and have a CAA Flyer ID number (lasts for 5 years). You also need a CAA Operator Number (the one you pay for and display on your aircraft – lasts of 1 year).

Club Meetings 2026
The next club meeting is on Tuesday 6th January 2026. The agenda and more details are below.

At this meeting we will decide what charity we will nominate for any collections we have at the field during the year. Club member Nigel Stott has asked if the club would consider raising some money for ‘Dial Wood Carriage Driving for the Disabled’.

https://www.dialwoodrda.co.uk/

‘Dial Wood Carriage Driving for the Disabled offers opportunities for disabled people to learn carriage driving, receive riding therapy and learn horse care, or simply come and enjoy the fresh air and be taken for a carriage drive. We are situated in Flockton – a rural setting between Huddersfield and Wakefield’

Nigel and his wife are involved with the charity and some representatives from the charity will be giving a short talk / presentation at the meeting with a request for our help.
